Question 1

Do I need a reservation?

Accepted Answer

Yes, reservations are highly recommended to lock in your preferred date and time. For last-minute bookings, call 855-SEG-TOUR (855-734-8687) and we will do our best to get you rolling.

Question 2

What is the best day to take a tour?

Accepted Answer

Any day is fun, but Monday through Thursday is generally the quietest. Downtown is lighter on events and festivals midweek, so paths are clearer and stops are easier.

Question 3

How many people are in each tour?

Accepted Answer

For a more personal experience, tours are capped at 16 riders, though most groups are 8 to 10 guests. Planning a larger outing? Call 855-SEG-TOUR and we will arrange a custom group tour.

Question 4

Do you offer private tours, corporate events or parties?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In addition to public tours, we handle corporate events, team building and private parties. From Microsoft to Allergan, when Fortune 500 companies come to Scottsdale to play, they use Scottsdale Segway Tours to entertain their employees, guests and clients. Call 855-SEG-TOUR or request a quote on our Private & Corporate Groups page.

Question 5

Do you have gift certificates?

Accepted Answer

Of course. Buy a gift card online or call 855-SEG-TOUR.

Question 6

What is your Best Price Guarantee?

Accepted Answer

If you see a comparable tour advertised for a lower price, let us know at the time of booking so we can verify and beat that price. Certain holiday and spring blackout periods may be excluded due to high volume.

Question 7

What is a Segway and how does it work?

Accepted Answer

A Segway Personal Transporter is a self-balancing electric device designed to go wherever people walk. It checks your balance hundreds of times per second and responds to your lean: lean slightly forward to go, lean back to slow, stop or reverse. It is intuitive and most guests are comfortable within minutes.

Question 8

How do I learn to ride?

Accepted Answer

Every tour starts with a 15 to 25 minute training and orientation in a large, controlled parking lot. Your guide demonstrates safe operation and emergency stops, then works with each rider individually. The tour does not leave until everyone feels comfortable and confident. Helmets are required and provided free.

Question 9

How fast do Segways go?

Accepted Answer

Up to 12 mph. We start training and the tour at a slower pace and only increase speed as everyone feels in control.

Question 10

What are the age and size requirements?

Accepted Answer

Segway tours: recommended for ages 12 and up; riders must weigh at least 75 lbs. E-bike tours: riders must be 16 or older per Scottsdale regulations. Golf cart tours: no minimum age; if a child needs a car seat or booster, please bring your own. Maximum age for Segway and e-bike tours is 75.

Question 11

What should I wear?

Accepted Answer

Dress for comfort and the weather in light, breathable layers; we cruise around 12 mph, so bring a jacket if it is cool. Footwear: closed-toe, flat shoes or sneakers are required. Not allowed: flip-flops, sandals, open-toe shoes, heels, wedges, platforms or toning shoes. For safety, guests without appropriate footwear cannot ride.

Question 12

Can I bring a purse or bag?

Accepted Answer

Each Segway has a small handlebar bag for essentials like medication, wallet, phone or a compact camera. Please leave purses, bags and backpacks at home or locked in your vehicle. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Question 13

What time should I arrive?

Accepted Answer

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your start time so we can finish check-in and training and start on time.

Question 14

Where does the tour start?

Accepted Answer

After you book, your confirmation email includes your meeting and starting location and tips for preparing. Our office at 6803 E Main Street, Suite 1120 is not always the departure point.

Question 15

How will I hear the guide?

Accepted Answer

Every rider gets a VOX Networks headset so you can hear your guide's commentary and instructions throughout the ride.

Question 16

Will there be food?

Accepted Answer

We provide complimentary bottled water on every tour. Please eat before you arrive; food is not provided.

Question 17

Are restrooms available?

Accepted Answer

Please use the restroom before your start time. There is a restroom stop roughly 30 minutes into the tour, but no restroom at the starting location.

Question 18

Do I need to tip my guide?

Accepted Answer

Gratuity is appreciated and customary in our industry (18 to 20% if you had a great experience). Our guides work hard on routes, training and stories so every guest has a safe, memorable ride.

Question 19

Are tours canceled for weather?

Accepted Answer

With 330+ sunny days a year we rarely cancel. Segways are water-resistant and operate safely in light rain, and we provide complimentary ponchos. If severe weather requires a cancellation, we will offer another date or time; if none works, you will receive a credit or refund.

Question 20

Can I change or cancel my booking?

Accepted Answer

Tours are non-refundable, but rescheduling is 100% flexible and free with at least 24 hours notice. Call 855-SEG-TOUR and we will move you. No-shows with no advance notice cannot be rescheduled and no credit is given. In the event of inclement weather we may move your start time by up to two hours in either direction; if we cancel for weather, we reschedule you on the next available tour or offer a refund.

Question 21

What is your policy on alcohol and medications?

Accepted Answer

We will refuse service to anyone suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, banned substances or prescription medications that warn against operating equipment.

Question 22

Do you sell Segways?

Accepted Answer

No. We focus solely on tours and special events, not sales.
